I recently photographed tiny Jaxon with my dear friends over at Sun and Sparrow. I sometimes get the call to help other photographers with what I love most, newborn photography. These are some of the best sessions. I get to work with other amazing photographers and a brand new baby.
Baby Jaxon was such a sleepy baby. He was a very good little model. He gladly let me swaddle, unswaddle, pose and repose him – all while he slept soundly.
We were able to include two really neat props in this newborn session. The first was his dad’s baby blanket. The beautiful little blanket had been handmade by a family member. We were so happy to include it in the shoot. It will provide for a very good story for him to tell when he’s older. We also included his dad’s childhood giant teddy bear. At first glance I didn’t realize how big this teddy actually was. Once little Jaxon was posed on the bear, the bear looked huge and the baby looked tiny. The room was filled with awe at the sweetness of this precious baby laying on his daddy’s teddy bear. When you are planning for and dreaming of your little darling’s photo session, pull out those heirloom pieces from your childhood! We have fun incorporating them into your photo shoot.
Another thing that I especially loved about this newborn shoot was the time we spent photographing mommy and baby together. There is something so sacred about these photographs. The bond between a new baby and their mommy cannot easily be described with words, but the photos speak volumes.
